A culinary tour of the region would begin with the classical toasted "Fettunta or Bruschetta", prepared using the locally produced and very famous golden olive oil. This would be followed by "Bistecca alla Fiorentina" or "Tagliata", a piece of steak from the local Chianina- and Maremma herds, or perhaps a ragout of local game and, of course, not forgetting the numerous dishes of delicious homemade pasta - more often the difficulty is simply deciding which dish to choose from the menu…. The small and very fine almond pastry biscuits "Cantucci" are often served with wine which helps bring out the full flavour ! And, of course, the variety and selection of regional wines is a must to try out ! Naturally starting with the "Chianti Classico" and, according to personal taste and 'Gusto', Vino nobile di Montepulciano, Gallo-Nero, Brunello di Montalcino, Sassicaia and Morellino are all well worth tasting. In this category we offer a selection of attractive accommodation situated on wine estates with vineyards, as well as country homes and 'Agriturismo' (farms or historical preserved buildings which are often family run and where the use of local produce in the preparation of meals is the norm). Guests can often take advantage of a tour of the estate during their stay, including a wine-tasting session, and have the opportunity to buy the wine produced on site.
