Traditional produce such as honey, olive oil, flour and biscuits, can be purchased on site at the farm shop. Various types of honey are produced here on site as well as native olive oil and visits can be arranged to the apiary and to see the production of olive oil. Also typical Tuscan lunches and evening meals can be prepared to order from local restaurants. Visits to the Marble Stone Quarry and Lardo di Colonnata .. A particularly interesting excursion in this region is a visit to the marble stone quarry "MICHELANGELO" in Massa u. Carrara. One can follow the various processes, from the mining and extraction of the marble to its transportation, allowing a real insight into the tradition and processing of this very precious and famous stone. To round off your visit we recommend tasting the famous "Lardo di Colonnata" (a Tuscan speciality of this region). This Italian delicacy, which has been stored in marble containers, is often served with slices of tomatoe and is a highlight of the Tuscan cuisine. Sport Sporting and outdoor activities are available here in abundance! Mountain bike tours, with many excellent routes starting directly from the property, trekking, river-walking and hill-climbing, or just simply table tennis. Those looking for a few speedy PS more, there is a motor-cross track just nearby! For all "sun worshippers", there is of course the swimming pool with panoramic terrace for relaxing and enjoying the glorious Tuscan sunshine. And how about a cool drink followed by a delicious barbeque to complete the picture ! Trout Fishing From the mountains just behind the apartments, originates a stream which flows into a lake and continues on into the river Serchio. An ablsolute ideal area for trout fishing, either directly by the property or from the medieval bridge nearby. Trekking A wonderful trekking route starts directly from the property which takes you across the mountain range of Fabbriche di Vallico to the iron and steel works where in ancient times, iron for weapons and tools was produced. Mountain Bikes / Cycling Many of the trekking and hiking routes can also be followed on mountain bikes. For cyclists, the Via Lodovica is just 2 km away, a route which stretches over the Paso del Vesito to the apuaninian rivera or across the Monte Pitorio and Monte Magno to Versilia. Wood Burning Stove Here lies the real charm and character of this traditonal property. During the renovation and restoration work, the wood burning stove on the 1st floor of the property was fully restored and, on request, can be used for cooking and baking fresh bread! Excursions Fabbriche di Vallico lies in a central panoramic location in the Garfagnana, between Lucca and Castelnuovo, with many sightseeing opportunities nearby including the Ponte del Diavolo (devil's bridge), churches, castles, as well as the cultural town of Lucca which is only 20 km away. Pisa is located just 40 km away and Florence 70 km.
