A typical Renaissance-Borgo located in the north of Umbria, directly on the border of Tuscany.
This fortified residence is part of the small community of Cittŕ di Castello and is situated in the middle of a 230 hectare country estate,
surrounded by pine trees and olive groves, vineyards and chestnut woods.
This rural settlement dates back to the 16th century and is made up of a few simple but yet elegant country houses and cottages and
a magnificent architecturally constructed manor house that evokes the beauty and charm of past centuries.
The Borgo enjoys a superb location in a peaceful and secluded setting, almost in a world of its own.
It lies in a small sheltered basin, shielded from northerly winds, and offers delightful panoramic views of the scenic landscape to the south.
Between the ancient housing and cobbled streets and alleyways, one feels transformed back in time.
The calm and tranquillity is just amazing, although the next village is only 2 km away.
The holiday accommodation available within this unique enclosure consists of 4 apartments and 3 detached holiday homes, all of which have been
comfortably furnished and equipped with modern comforts. It is only on entering one of these properties that one returns to the present modern day.
The interiors include traditional and modern features, perfectly combined giving a harmonious and
homely atmosphere, and each property has been individually decorated with character.
This historic rural retreat is a small paradise encapsulating traditional Renaissance architecture with modern interior design and facilities.
There is a swimming pool with solarium which has been constructed to blend in with the Renaissance surroundings.
For sporting and outdoor enthusiasts there are routes available for trekking and mountain biking and there are two small fishing lakes nearby,
ideal for anglers.
In the well tended gardens there is a variety of fruit trees and the various seasonal fruits are available for harvesting.
In the Autumn the area is extremely popular for wild mushrooms, particularly the 'porcini'.
In the Borgo's communal hall a breakfast service is available for guests on request and an evening dinner is prepared
once a week.

The Borgo operates an agricultural farm and adopts organic farming pratices certified by ICEA. It is
particulary known for its organic olive oil, wine, honey and chestnuts.
These and other organic products and whole foods can be purchased at the reception where there is a mini-farm shop.
For those interested in finding out more about olive oil production there is a guided tour with the opportunity to visit the oil mill.
The Borgo and its owner are extremely conscious of environmental issues and have implemented environmentally sustainable practices such as
a waste water treatment system, which is based on and complies with eco principles. The sewage water (from the bathrooms and kitchens)
is first pumped through a purifier treatment system, where the larger particles are removed, and is then passed through filter systems located at the bottom
of a small lake. The water is then released into the lake where the plants growing on the water suface (reeds, bambus, water lilies etc.),
with help from special microorganisms, provide the ultimate purifiction. After the necessary controls have been made, the purified water can then
be reused (for flushing or irrigation).
Another means of helping the environment is through the use of bio-cleaning agents and laundry detergents. Guests are provided with
bio-degradable products free of charge for washing and cleaning and the owner stipulates that only these products are to be used on-site.
The use of conventional cleaning products is understandingly not appreciated.
