Here, in the striking and spectacular Orcia Valley (Val d' Orcia), the area between Siena and the Amiata mountain (province Grosseto), nearly every village around has managed to preserve its ancient medieval centre. Old castles and country estates, monasteries, watchtowers, churches and Palio squares can be seen on nearly every inhabited hilltop! Pienza and Montalcino are probably the best known villages amongst a number of magical and enchanting places to visit in the Orcia Valley, all of them rich in culture, history and full of historic sites, for example Castiglione d'Orcia, Radicofani, San Quirico d'Orcia, Castel del Piano, Seggiano, Monticchiello, Bagno Vignoni, Rocca d'Orcia, Campiglia d'Orcia, Bagni San Filippo and Vivo d'Orcia. Not to mention the numerous ancient thermal spa towns: Terme di Saturnia (cascate del Gorello), Bagni San Filippo, Fonteverde in San Casciano Bagni, Bagno Vignoni, Terme di Rapolano, Terme di Petriolo, Terme di Sarteano, Chianciano Terme, Sant'Albino. The B&B Castel del Piano offers 4 double rooms with ensuite bathrooms, a lounge, a cosy kitchen dining area with fireplace and a quiet reading corner on the top floor. Each guestroom has been individually and tastefully furnished with character by its warm and welcoming owners, Pino and Antonino who personally see to the comfort and well-being of their guests. On request a traditional evening meal can be provided and/or a glass or two of one of the fine local red wines (Montecucco, Brunello, Morellino di Scansano, Chianti) from their well stocked wine cellar. Or perhaps relax with an invigorating tea! In the delightful flower-filled terraced garden belonging to the B&B is a seating and dining area with table, chairs, sun umbrellas and a swimming pool with a panoramic terrace. Shade is also provided by large chestnut trees. Guests can relax and swim while soaking up the beautiful countryside and surrounding panorama.. Wine-tasting can also be arranged on request and details and information for wellness programmes at local thermal baths can be provided. Even a guided riding tour on horseback can be organised by the owners who are on hand to help with advice, ideas and suggestions to ensure your stay is a most enjoyable one.
